Amber Burnett

Amber Burnett

Assistant Principal, ES

Amber Burnett is a native of southwest Virginia and is serving in her 15th year as an educator.  A graduate of Radford University, Amber holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership.  She taught kindergarten, 4th grade, and coached cheer before serving as assistant principal in 2016.  Most recently she was principal at Floyd Elementary from 2017-2021.  As a result, black and gold little buffalo hoofprints will be forever etched on her heart.

Amber has been a mentor teacher to novice educators and was selected as Teacher of the Year by her colleagues in 2014.  Professionally, Amber is most passionate about building and safeguarding a positive school culture, walking the walk of whole child teaching and learning, and fighting against teacher attrition.

Having recently relocated to the Northern Virginia area to reunite geographically with her husband, Drew, Mrs. Burnett is eager to explore this part of our great state and is only mildly overwhelmed by “NOVA” traffic.  An avid Steelers fan, Amber cautions you to avoid giving her grief following gameday losses.  Mrs. Burnett is committed to growing within her journey of faith, enjoys hiking, working out, and giving endless belly scratches to her spoiled fur son, Beaux.

The students, staff, and families within the Vienna community have welcomed Mrs. Burnett with open (socially distant) arms.  Amber is overjoyed to have joined the VES family and is enjoying a fantastic year with her amazing little clients who are undoubtedly on their way to change the world.
